In 1850 in Germany Tschöpeln (now Founded in Töpferstedt.

There are nine pottery manufacturers in the village, which has a population of about 330 people. Hartwig Heyne was one of them.

After the Second World War the company moved to Oer-Erkenschwick, where it continued to operate until 2005.

They produce a variety of artistic pieces, mainly vases, and were one of the most active kilns during the heyday of Germany's Fat Lava boom.
